What Is the Missouri Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant?

The Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant is a financial aid program created by the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD). It’s designed specifically for adults pursuing education or training in industries where Missouri has a strong need for skilled workers.

In other words, it helps Missourians gain the technical skills that power the state’s economy, everything from renewable energy to advanced manufacturing and information technology.

Unlike many financial aid programs that focus on recent high school graduates, the Fast Track Grant was created for adults who are ready to return to school, change careers, or enhance their skills in a new field.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the Fast Track Grant, you must meet a few key requirements:

Be a Missouri resident (or an active-duty military member stationed in Missouri, or the spouse of one).

• Have lived in Missouri for at least two years before applying.
• Be at least 25 years old. If younger, have not been enrolled in school for at least two years.
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Have a federal adjusted gross income of $80,000 or less (for married filing jointly) or $40,000 or less (for any other filing status).
• Not already have a bachelor’s degree.
• You’ll also need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) so the state can determine your eligibility for both federal and state programs.

How to Apply for the Fast Track Grant

Applying is simple:

1. Submit your FAFSA® if required by your training provider.
   
2. Create an account on the Missouri State Financial Aid Portal at web.dhewd.mo.gov/studentportal.
   
3. Complete the application for the Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant.
   
4. Enroll in an eligible program (like one of PCI’s trade school programs in Kansas City or online).
   
5. Maintain satisfactory academic progress, including a minimum 2.5 GPA if you renew your award.
