Working full time can be stressful and make it seem like you have no time for homework, but these few tips can help you become a more successful student while putting in all your hours at work!

I understand the struggle of being a full time worker and student, but staying positive, thinking of the future rewards to come, and having good time management skills will put you on the right path to be successful!

  1. SLEEP- Getting a good night’s sleep is critical to becoming a more positive and productive worker. Try to sleep 7-9 hours a night, I know this isn’t possible for everyone because of family duties, but try to get as close to that as possible. This sleep will allow you to make it through the day and night when a more clear mindset.
  2. Schedule- Whether your work schedule is set or changes; you must schedule accordingly to get your school work done. If you work set hours, try to do your homework before or after work- or even a combination of both. If you have a variable schedule, try to plan times to do your work and study when your schedule comes out.
  3. Take Breaks- Do not work until your point of exhaustion. When you are exhausted you do not have the capability to properly process the information you are receiving. Take small breaks between assignment to stay focuses and ready to learn!
  4. Use Your Breaks- Take your books and study notes with you to work and try to get in small study sessions on any breaks or lunch time you have. Do not forget to eat though! Eating is critical to having energy, which will carry you through your day!
  5. Take it Easy!- Make sure you save time for yourself to relax and unwind, this will allow you to reduce stress and clear your mind so you can continue to concentrate on work and your studies. When you are stressed out you tend to not concentrate on what you are doing which results in mindless reading and not retaining the information you are receiving.
