On October 20, 2016, Pinnacle Career Institute’s Lawrence Campus hosted the Lawrence High School JAG Program (Jobs for American Graduates) for a “day of hands-on learning.”  Twenty five JAG students and their instructor, Melissa Jackson, visited with PCI staff and students to learn about all the career and technical programs PCI has to offer.

The day began with a warm welcome from Campus Director and Vice President, Becky Clothier.  Immediately following, Nick Foley, Director of Career Services, and Kelly Moechoe, Career Services Coordinator, were introduced to the students and explained how their roles impact the lives of PCI students.  After introductions the students were broken down into small groups, and each group visited a classroom representing a different PCI program. Brian Patterson, Pharmacy Technician Program Coordinator, showed the students why his program is doing so well; Matt Moilanen, Personal Trainer Program Coordinator, brought fun and laughter into his presentation; and Jennifer Safir, Wind Turbine Technician and HVAC Systems Career Services Coordinator, showed videos and tools of the trade to the students interested in either program.   Karen Stewart and her Dental Assisting students explained how to work some of the equipment and the features of the dental assisting lab.  Lindsey Baynham, Medical Assistant Lead, showed the students how to wrap a wound and sprain and then let the students try it.  We had students walking up and down the hallway in different color bandages. She also gave them a tour of her lab and the tools used in the medical field.  Bobbie McHenry and Lauren Morehead represented the Massage Therapy program, and their students demonstrated hot stone and basic massages.  Michelle Legg, Esthetics Lead, and her students took turns showing the JAG students all about skin care with a “hands-on” demonstration using mini bagels for skin cells.

The JAG students learned a great deal about Pinnacle Career Institute.  Everyone at PCI would like to offer a special thanks to the Lawrence High School JAG Program instructor and all her students!  We really appreciated the opportunity to show you what Pinnacle Career Institute is all about!
