Pinnacle Career Institute, Hy-Vee, Dillons, Target and many others joined together to donate 1,000 toothbrushes, flossers, toothpaste and healthy snack bags United Way of Douglas County to be used for Eudora Elementary School and the Lawrence Homeless Shelter. On Saturday, October 22nd Bonnie Sandefer and myself, Michele Vignola-Rogers, of the Lawrence PCI Campus had the opportunity to help stuff and prepare Healthy Halloween goody bags for Eudora Elementary.  Using an assembly line set-up, we were able to fill 912 bags in a little less than 3 hours.  Among the laughs and occasional back up of the assembly line, we managed to get every student a Healthy Halloween snack bag, but they also received a "how to" brochure on good oral hygiene and a bookmark about healthy snacks.

After volunteering, we visited downtown Eudora.  It was great fun as we stopped in to see PCI supporter Pam and her co-workers at the Eudora Market on Main.  Pam and her very talented friends showcase a wonderful array of handmade items including paintings, soaps, jewelry, household gifts, and fresh local farm produce.  On their information ledge are flyers and brochures from local farms, businesses and of course Pinnacle Career Institute.

All and all it was a good day to volunteer, visit with friends and hopefully impact a few lives in Eudora, Kansas.
