Growth in the job outlook for Massage Therapists is expected to grow 26% from 2016 to 2026.
This growth is attributed to the increase in respected and acceptance of more people as massage therapy as a method to help treat pain and increase overall wellness. Healthcare providers are also understanding this and inclduing massage as part of treatment plans. Chiropractic offices often have massage therapists on staff. Sports teams are also using massage therapists to help their athletes rehabilitate from injuries and to relieve or manage pain. The increase in massage clinic franchises has also increased the amount of affordable massages than those provided at spas and resorts - making massage available to a wider range of customers.
This growth in recognition and respect also comes as states such as Missouri and Kansas have moved to stronger licensing requirements and standard of practice. Education is required for licensure, and also assists in learning multiple modalities to expand opportunities for the therapists.
