As social media continues to impact our lives, it also benefits the way we learn.  

• Facebook allows students and instructors to communicate in a forum of like interest.  It’s a great place for teachers to answer any questions or praise accomplishments.

• Facebook brings students together, and gives them a sense of community among their classmates.  Whether you’re of similar or different background, Facebook offers a great outlet to learn, grow and reach across cultural diversities. 

• Facebook also allows for instant feedback.  When a student has a question, or the instructor needs to communicate a message to the class, Facebook is a perfect means to achieve real time results. 

Bonus reason:  for students who are apprehensive to start online classes for the first time; most online learning software – including Canvas, which we use, are designed to be as easy to use as Facebook.  This means that if you can navigate Facebook for information, you can use your Learning Management Software with relatively the same ease.
