Certification necessary for many of today’s top jobs
April 21st, 2009 by admin

Do you want to take your career to the next level? Are you interested in taking your life down a different path with a new occupation? To find stability in today’s job market, training and certification is becoming increasingly necessary.

To help you narrow your career search, we’ve listed some hot jobs with high career growth potential. Being certified in one of the following fields can make you more employable with more opportunities for pay increases or advancement.

One of the fastest-growing careers, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is personal home care aids. This career is expected to grow 50.6% within the decade as more people want to be cared for in their own homes. Being a personal home care aid can allow you to work with several clients caring for their personal and health needs. While some can prepare for this position by training on the job, being certified from a medical program such as medical assisting can make you more employable. A medical assistant certificate can also give you opportunities to work in hospitals and doctors’ offices.

Or, take your passion for health and fitness to the next level by becoming a certified personal trainer. A personal training certificate can allow you to start your own business or work in gyms, fitness centers and more. Career growth for fitness trainers is expected to be 27% between 2006-2016. Certified trainers can also take management roles.

Massage therapy is another career where certification can take you places! Massage therapists have opportunities to work in spas, chiropractic offices, cruise ships, from home, or at client’s homes.  The expected career growth for massage therapists is 20%.

These are just three of the many careers where being certified is necessary, or can greatly increase your chances for employment. Now is a great time to take advantage of training in your area. Discover the opportunities waiting for you by getting certified in a trade today!

Outdoor Recreation: A Fitness Goldmine
September 8th, 2006 by Darian Parker

The great outdoors…not only is nature beautiful it is also a treasure chest full of ideas for fitness activities. When people tell me they can’t afford to join a gym I say no problem! Most communities have a variety of outdoor recreation settings that can be used for a variety of fitness activities. The outdoor recreation setting can be a very effective vehicle for stimulating the desire for improving one’s level of fitness.
As an avid outdoor exerciser I love the heightened awareness and connection that I get when I’m running through a natural trail as the smell of maple and pine cones fill the air. And nothing compares to the thrill of the sight of clay red rocks and the physical and mental challenge you face hiking through those beautiful monuments of nature. All the sights, sounds and smells of the outdoors always take me back to a time as a child when being outside was the most important thing to do after getting home from school. As an adult I still yearn for that outside time and exercise has been the consistent gateway to my outdoor experiences.
With that being said, here are some places in your community that you can use to get a great workout:
•Parks: benches, trees and lots of open field…try doing some dips on a bench or play a fast moving game of ultimate frisbee with friends!
•Hiking Trails: recapture your sense of wonder and serenity…oh and also walk for a mile or two and get a great cardiovascular workout!
•Bike Trails: hit the trails for a nice and refreshing ride through nature’s glory while improving your cardiovascular fitness
•Baseball Fields: not just used for baseball anymore…run the bases and every time you hit home plate do a different stationary exercise!
•Swimming Pools: remember jumping up and down in the water endlessly as a kid? Do it as an adult and go for 1 minute hard and 30 seconds easy…you’ll have fun and get in shape.
•The Beach: don’t you just love the sun…the water …and the resistance from the sand! Do some heel toe walks in sand to strengthen your feet.

Questions for Medical Billing and Coding Online
July 28th, 2008 by PCI

I just started the Medical Billing and Coding Program online. I had so many questions when I started. Ordering the books, finding my password, logging in to get into the class. Usually, the answers were right in the emails I received. However, when I called the office, they were very helpful in directing me to the right place to get my questions answered. There are a lot of nice people at Pinnacle and very helpful!

You aren’t just a number at PCI ONLINE!!!
July 21st, 2008 by PCI

This was my first time taking online classes and I was very nervous. I wasn’t sure if I would get the individual help that I needed. I was so pleased to find out that I can contact my instructor for assistance and my program coordinator anytime. I also received emails on a regular basis from the education department checking to see how my classes were going and if I needed any help. It’s such a nice feeling to know that you have a lot of helpful people to call when you have a question or need help. I feel that I have an excellent support group thanks to all the staff and faculty at PCI ONLINE.

Pinnacle Career Instute’s online personal training
July 14th, 2008 by PCI

I am just returning from the Vegas bootcamp which is at the end of my schooling online, and to say it was one of the best experiences of my life is not to do it justice. We met some of the people that I read about everyday in fitness magazines, and loved the experience. I am just writing this because I dont know exactly how to thank all of the people in charge of the PT online program at PCI. Thanks for all you did for me, and I look forward to putting into practice what I learned both in the classroom, and at the bootcamp… Thanks again PCI online.

What are Phytochemicals?
September 25th, 2007 by Jim Whittaker, M.S., NSCA-CPT, CSCS

Phytochemicals are non-nutritive plant chemicals that have protective or disease preventive properties. There are more than thousand known phytochemicals. It is well-known that plants produce these chemicals to protect itself but recent research demonstrates that they can protect humans against diseases. Some of the well-known phytochemicals are lycopene in tomatoes, isoflavones in soy and flavanoids in fruits. They are not essential nutrients and are not required by the human body for sustaining life. Foods containing phytochemicals are already part of our daily diet. In fact, most foods contain phytochemicals except for some refined foods such as sugar or alcohol. Some foods, such as whole grains, vegetables, beans, fruits and herbs, contain many phytochemicals. The easiest way to get more phytochemicals is to eat more fruit (blueberries, cranberries, cherries, apple,…) and vegetables (cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, broccoli,…). It is recommended take daily at least 5 to 9 servings of fruits or vegetable. Fruits and vegetables are also rich in minerals, vitamins and fiber and low in saturated fat. Popping a vitamin each day won’t offer you all the benefits of consuming fruits and vegetables. Remember, Mother Nature had it right the first time!

Online Personal Training Boot Camp Experience
September 24th, 2007 by PCI

When I went to Las Vegas for my PT boot camp it was awesome. I got to meet Jay Cutler and he actually took us through some exercises. I got to listen to many different professionals in the PT field that are in unique specialty areas and that gave me a better understanding of the options that I have in training my clients. At boot camp you listen to a lecturer share their ideas and then you get to apply them in a workout session. I even got to view a new concept bike/scooter that was from Holland, very cool. I am glad that I went to school online.

Constitution Day
September 19th, 2007 by PCI

Constitution Day (or Citizenship Day) is an American federal holiday that recognizes the ratification of the United States Constitution. It is observed on September 17, the day the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution in 1787. The law establishing this holiday was created in 2004 with the passage of an amendment by Senator Robert Byrd to the Omnibus spending bill of 2004. Before this law was enacted, the holiday was known as “Citizenship Day”. In addition to renaming the holiday “Constitution Day and Citizenship Day,” the act mandates that all publicly funded educational institutions provide educational programming on the history of the American Constitution on that day. In May 2005, the United States Department of Education announced the enactment of this law and that it would apply to any school receiving federal funds of any kind. To make sure that PCI-KC complied with the law, packets were created for the students and distributed on Constitution Day. They included 10 Fast Facts about the Constitution and a word search puzzle that allowed the students to better understand the Constitution’s creators. Instructors were also supplied with a teacher’s guide to the Constitution of the United States to help educate students should they specific questions.

T for Target
September 17th, 2007 by Jim Whittaker, M.S., NSCA-CPT, CSCS

The National Strength and Conditioning Association’s 5 pillars of personal training are (MATER), motivate, assess, train, education and refer. Client’s come to you because they have a problem or challenge, they want to lose weight, feel better, add muscle mass, etc… At Pinnacle Career Institute we educate our personal trainers to offer solutions for customer challenges. Client’s often make the mistake of wanting to change every poor health choice or fitness deficiency over night, but it is better to target one or two major areas of improvement and effect positive and long lasting change. At Pinnacle Career Institute we teach you how to target the exercise modality needed for a wide range of personal training cliental. We then go beyond the targeting by giving you the academic knowledge, the applied knowledge and hands on experience in real world training in our exercise facility. Training is at the heart of personal training but knowing which type to use and when to make changes is the art of personal training.

PCI Online gives me more time!
April 3rd, 2008 by PCI

I have been an online student for 3 months now. I work 10 hour days and I’m a single mom. When I first started taking online classes it seemed so overwhelming. I then decided that I had to figure out a way to juggle work, my daughter, and school. I made myself a set schedule everyday to work on school work. It was hard at first to get use to a routine, but after doing it everyday it made my life easier. I put my schedule on my refridgerator to remind me what I needed to get done. I would then mark off each day that I completed school work. I tried to spend at least 2 hours or more a night on school work. After a month on this routine I found that I had more time to do other things. I was caught up on all my school work and had more time to spend with my daughter. It was nice not putting everything off until the last minute and stressing out. I also love the fact that I can get everything done in the comfort of my own home. I’m so glad that I’m a PCI online student!

Gearing Up for Summer: Keeping Fitness and Fun in Mind
April 4th, 2007 by Darian Parker

With spring in full gear and summer approaching, many people are venturing outdoors to get the good vibes of being out in the sun. However, before you hit the outdoors start thinking about how you want to make your love of being outside part of your fitness program. Here’s three tips to help everyone not only enjoy the warm weather, but also improve their fitness:
1. Favorite Nature Spots: Got the lake and swim, hike in parks or recreational areas close to you or get on those roller skates you haven’t used in years and go for a stroll.
2. Join a Group: when the weather gets warm people want to be around each other and be social. Join a walking group or volunteer to be a guide or participant in some outdoor adventure outing. Being part of a group provides encouragement and motivation for others in their physical activity pursuits
3. Travel to Other Places!: Over the summer take a trip to a place you’ve never been and explore on foot or bike the different aspects of this new place. Let your zest for life not only improve your sense of imagination and exploration, but also your physical fitness.
Ok, so you got some tips on how to make summer fun and healthy. Now go out and take advantage of all that this summer has to offer!

Vitamin water?
July 31st, 2007 by Jim Whittaker, M.S., NSCA-CPT, CSCS

Now that we have entered the dog days of summer let’s keep up the review of sports and hydration. So what about vitamin water is this fad or function? Nutritional deficiencies in industrialized nations are rare and sports scientists haven’t decided if athletes need more than the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of vitamins and minerals. There is a lot of conflicting information out there and Personal Trainers at Pinnacle Career Institute are taught to discern the difference between what may help or hinder your health and fitness goals. If you don’t need extra vitamins and minerals and you probably don’t then consuming vitamin water may simply slow your fat loss goals. For general health and fitness it’s hard to beat plain old water for most of your hydration needs!

Sports drink vs. Energy Drink
July 23rd, 2007 by Jim Whittaker, M.S., NSCA-CPT, CSCS

That is a great question that confuses a lot of people. Personal trainers need to know the differences between energy drinks and sports drinks so they can provide the right answer when asked this question. An energy drink usually implies that it contains legal stimulants (caffeine, guarana, taurine, various forms of ginseng, ect) or supplements to increase your energy levels. Some of these supplements are unproven and may be potentially dangerous so beware! Certain aspects of sports drinks make them ideal for use and not all energy drinks share those elements. Energy drinks may be higher in sugar than recommended and that can reduce digestion and upset your stomach too. The stimulants in energy drinks may cause stomach irritation and the increase in heart rate is undesirable as well. Most energy drinks won’t contain essential electrolytes required for exercise. I’d recommend using a sports drink or beverage and not an energy drink before or during exercise. For more info: http://www.gssiweb.com/Article_Detail.aspx?articleid=310

Recent High School Graduates are more than welcome at PCI!
July 18th, 2007 by Ashley Meredith, M.A.

As a high school student graduating and looking to go to college there are more than an infinite number of choices a student can make, which can be at the very least, a daunting task. There are many routes to choose, four year traditional college, two year community colleges, technical schools and the list goes on from there. One of those choices that most graduating seniors are not aware of is the career college route. At a career college, students take classes that are relevant and specific to what they want to do NOW as opposed to what they want to do later on in life. The programs offered at these types of schools are shorter and are designed to give training in the specific area of interest.
And now you’re wondering why this choice, Pinnacle Career Institute, might be the best for you as a graduating senior? Let’s break it down: you’re in school for less time, you get hands on training that you might not get choosing a different route, classes are flexible and let you have a life out of class and you are part of a smaller school that is dedicated to helping you achieve the career and success that you want. With that being said, you can also qualify for scholarships and Financial Aid, just like you can at traditional schools. So if going to a 2 or 4 year college doesn’t look like it is in the works for you, give PCI a second glance and see what we might be able to offer you!
On a side note, PCI will be having a pizza party for recent high school graduates and potential interested students on Wednesday, July 25 at noon! Recent grads please feel free to come and check us out and bring anyone who might be interested. Also we will be hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Fed Ex career recruiter will be on hand. Please don’t miss out on the opportunity to see what PCI is all about, we are looking forward to seeing you there!!

What is the best brand of sports beverage to consume?
July 16th, 2007 by Jim Whittaker, M.S., NSCA-CPT, CSCS

Question #3: “What is the best brand of sports beverage to consume?”
http://faculty.washington.edu/…
The best brand is probably the one with a taste you prefer and can afford. Be careful of pricing as some seem less expensive per serving size but the serving size is small. Sports drinks are a huge business and all the major beverage companies are fighting for your dollar. It’s hard to wade through the marketing to find out what you really need. But here are some basics, sports drinks should contain sodium and other electrolytes to replenish those lost during sweating. Sports drinks should contain 4 to 8% of a sugar solution, but what type of sugar is still debated. One hazard of using a sports drink may be an upset stomach so don’t settle for a drink if it makes you feel bad. With the scientific nature of nutrition it is easy to go over board when picking your favorite drink, let your taste, stomach tolerance, and affordability be key features.

Sports Beverage: To Drink or Not to Drink - Part 2
July 13th, 2007 by Jim Whittaker, M.S., NSCA-CPT, CSCS

Question #2: “Do I have to be an athlete or an endurance runner to drink sports beverages?”
http://www.disen.org/nutrition/
Sports beverages can benefit more than just athletes or endurance runners. However, sports beverages benefit those that need them the most. And this is an important point to consider, consume extra calories unnecessarily through a sports beverage and you may not meet one of your most important exercise goals weight or fat loss! Sports beverage are ideal for maintaining energy levels for long duration exercise and moderate high intensity exercise, no fuel in the tank and the body won’t perform effectively. If you are doing 30 minutes or more of cardio after work and skipped a meal the sports beverage is essential to maintain the quality of your workout. We’ll talk later about why you shouldn’t skip meals. Feeling good and you have resistance training and 30 minutes of cardio on your plate, you probably won’t benefit from a sports beverage. However, doing a 60 minute cardio session or longer and it may be very beneficial. Hydration is always needed but extra calories are only needed for longer exercise sessions or when you skipped a meal. Food is Fuel, but too much is stored as fat by your body. So for most short exercise simply hydrate with water.

Have you had enough yet?
June 19th, 2007 by Riley Ross NSCA-CPT

I have had a lot more questions flood in over the last week concerning the topic of sports drinks, healthy ways to stay hydrated, good sources of information to research, and which sports drink is the best. So in response to your inquiries, I am going to be starting a four-part series that will cover each of the questions outlined in the previous blog. I look forward to your questions and comments, so keep them coming. Now let’s get started on the first topic:
Hydration before, during, and after exercise.
Pre-exercise: Countless studies have been conducted that show that hydration is vitally important in regards to exercise performance and also adherence. It is also important to note that outside of exercise, you should still get the 8 glasses of water recommended. That equates to approximately 64 oz. of water, or a little over three bottles of water from the store.
In addition to your daily recommended intake, here is what www.betterhealth.gov suggests concerning exercise.
Drink 24 oz. of water two hours before exercise.
Drink 16oz. of water about 15 minutes before exercise.
Drink 8oz. of water every 15 minutes while exercising.
Drink 16-32 oz. of water after exercise.
Make sure that you are also aware of the elements outside, especially during the hot summer months. Conditions such as dehydration and heat stroke can occur much faster than normal, so make sure to drink extra fluids when exercising in extreme temperatures.
So, once again, have fun out in the sun, be safe, and make sure to drink plenty of water during this hot month of June! Next week we will talk about the second question concerning sports drinks and who should drink them. Keep the questions coming!
Until next week

Sports Beverages: To Drink or Not to Drink?
June 13th, 2007 by Riley Ross NSCA-CPT

Sports beverage sales nationwide have shot up overwhelmingly in the last five years. Everybody is claiming that theirs is the “latest and greatest”, so I thought providing you with some great articles that will answer some of the most common questions that I get asked concerning sports beverages would help to clarify some of your most pressing issues. Following each question is a link to some very useful information.
Question #1: “What should I be drinking before, during, and after exercising?”
http://sportsmedicine.about.com/…
Question #2: “Do I have to be an athlete or an endurance runner to drink sports beverages?”
http://www.disen.org/nutrition/…
Question #3: “What is the best brand of sports beverage to consume?”
http://faculty.washington.edu/…
Question #4: “Where do you get your best information from?”
http://www.gssiweb.com/
All of these questions hinge on a number of different scenarios, all of which are dependent on when, where, and what you are doing for exercise. The best answer I can give anybody is to make sure that you are staying hydrated. The most common mistake most people make is start drinking water after they are thirsty. Physiologically, it is too late by then, because thirst is an initial symptom of dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids, before, as well as after and during exercise. If you are exercising in temperatures that exceed a heat index of 80 Farenheit, it is suggested that you consumer some beverage has an adequate amount of salt and carbohydrate.
Probably one of the best things to take into consideration is the amount of sports drinks you consume outside of exercising. This is one of the most common mistakes people make, especially when trying to lose weight. The calories that you burn during exercise can be compromised by drinking a 350 calorie sports drink directly after training. Be aware that there are other options to a heavily sugar-laden sports drink, like Gatorade Propel, Powerade Option, and a number of others. Be safe, be careful, and be hydrated when training outside! I hope to see you all in the gym or in the classroom soon!

Externship to job in 8 weeks.
June 9th, 2008 by PCI

I was done with all of my online courses, went to Vegas (loved it, learned more than I thought I could in one week), and went back home ready for my new career. Now the story gets fun. After trying my hardest to find an extern site I kept running into the same thing, no our gym does not need externs at this time so I contacted Jeff at PCI. After a few days of him searching he finally found a site for me, and not only did they take me on as an extern, they told me that as soon as I finished I could start full time as a trainer. Now my advice to all PT students who are about to finish up, learn all you can, and the bootcamp will wrap it up nicely for you, and you will do great in the field because of all the tough times you encountered learning PT online. I thank Jeff, and all the instructors at PCI for working with me when I thought they would give up. The instructors are there when I needed them, and I will return the favor by becoming the wonderful trainer that they saw in me when I wanted to give up hope. I rode on their hope when I had none, and it sure paid off in my future, and now my present…
Good luck online PT students.

Online Chat Room
June 2nd, 2008 by PCI

My favorite part of class is the Chat Room. In the Chat Room, our Instructor asks if we have questions, and each student can ask her for help. We each benefit from the questions that other students ask. We may have the same question, and it makes me feel like I’m not the only one asking about it. I have also found this is a good way to network with other students. We can get together in the Chat Room, or by email, anytime we want. It’s a great way to study or talk about our assignments.

Boo!
October 31st, 2007 by Jim Whittaker, M.S., NSCA-CPT, CSCS

Today is Halloween and that reminds me of one the scariest parts of being a Personal Trainer, helping clients over come their fear of failure. Set your sites low so you won’t be disappointed. Mediocrity and low self esteem is the death nail (Halloween reference #2) of excellence and success. Pinnacle Career Institute Personal Trainers learn about positive affirmations and how our sub-conscious beliefs and thought process’s impact what we do. The truth is you can often do something or not do something and the only certainty is that if you don’t try you’ll never have a chance to succeed. At PCI we learn about positive affirmations and self-imagery via “Thought Patterns for Success”. We also learn how some clients are afraid of being successful, and how that challenges their deep-rooted (Halloween reference #3) belief in themselves. As Franklin D. Roosevelt said what we fear is fear itself, fear of failure or success we are afraid of change and the unknown. Here at Pinnacle Career Institute our Personal Trainers develop tools and strategies for our clients to over-come fear.

I am so glad that I chose to attend Pinnacle Career Institute Online for medical billing and coding. It is an accelerated nine month program and when I am done I will be eligible to sit for the CPC-A. The CPC-A stands for the certified professional coder, assistant and is through the AAPC. To be eligible to sit for this exam you have to have one year of work experience, but my nine months here qualifies as one year of experience. After I have taken the CPC-A and work in the field for a year I get to be a CPC which is a certified professional coder.

Hachoo
October 23rd, 2007 by Jim Whittaker, M.S., NSCA-CPT, CSCS

How come we always make time to be sick but we don’t make time to be healthy? Important words as the Flu and cold season approaches. Your best defense according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) is good health habits. Wash your hands frequently especially before or after touching your nose or mouth. If you sneeze use a tissue or sneeze onto your shirt sleeve and not your hands. Always wash your hands after any sneeze and before every meal. Keep your immune system healthy by getting plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food. Ask your physician if they recommend a flu shot and if you have the flu call your physician to see what course of action they recommend. But make time for health and wash your hands frequently and practice other good health habits.

Online Education is a Great Option!!!
October 22nd, 2007 by PCI

Online education is a great option for me. There are many benefits to going to school online, I do not like big crowds and I get nervous in a traditional classroom setting. I am in the military and when I am in the field I would be unable to get to a class and with the online I can access it anywhere, even in the desert of Arizona. Since I have began my educational career the staff and faculty have been nothing but kind and helpful.
You cannot advance when you concentrate on retreat.

Medical Billing and Coding Online
October 15th, 2007 by PCI

I am glad that I decided to become a medical billing and coding student at Pinnacle Career Institute Online because a recent American Hospital Association survey showed that about 18% of billing and coding positions remain unfilled due to a lack of qualified candidates! The US Bureau of Labor Statistics states that medical billing and coding is one of the ten fastest growing allied health occupations. My specialized training and skills will let me easily find work any place, any time. There are many positions available in doctors’ offices, hospitals, pharmacies, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers, insurance companies, accounting offices, legal offices, and consulting firms. I can not wait for my nine months of courses to be done so that I can begin my new career today.

Personal Training program (don’t give up)
December 10th, 2007 by PCI

I wanted to give up, this is too tough to learn in 4 weeks. I called the PT Coordinator Jeff, and said I wanted to drop out. No he said. Basically he reminded me that I “wanted” this, and he would not let me drop out until I tried a new way of learning. An open book test is much harder than a normal test, and your first lesson is to learn how to organize your text book, not read it. The key to an open book test is to be as familiar with where things are located in your book, and be able to find the informmation very fast. I told him that I would try this, and get back to him on how it worked. To make a long story short, I spent 2 hours that night organizing my book, and now 3 months later my GPA is back on track, and I am saving myself an immeasureable amount of time per week.

I enjoyed the online schooling because I got to work full time at the same time, and kept up in my classes. I am attending bootcamp next month, and am done with all of my classes, and totally feel like the instructors were available to help me with what I needed to know with how the muscles react to stimuli to build them properly as a personal trainer should. I truly look forward to Vegas, and later becoming a trainer. I would recommend this program to anyone who has a family, works full time, but wants to persue a career in the fitness realm.

Medical Billing and Coding Online
November 12th, 2007 by PCI

What made me want to be a medical, billing and coding online student? One day I was playing around on the internet and came across this website http://www.bls.gov. It is the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics and gives you what they believe will be the best careers to be in for the future. Healthcare was the largest industry in 2004; health care provided 13.5 million jobs—13.1 million jobs for wage and salary workers and about 411,000 jobs for the self-employed. More new wage and salary jobs—about 19 percent, or 3.6 million—created between 2004 and 2014 will be in health care than in any other industry. They say that from 2004 until 2014 the Medical records and health information technician field will grow 30%. This seems like a great profession plus it looks like I will have many job opportunities and security. Going to Pinnacle Career Institute Online is good for me because I have a very busy schedule and the last thing I need to do is try to fit a class in during the day.

Chosing PCI was the right choice for me!!!
November 24th, 2008 by PCI

When I was researching which online school to attend, there were several criterea that had to be met. For example, I wanted a school that offered online programs that were in high demand. It was important to have a school that possessed a well thought-out and outlined course curriculum with instructor involvement. Lastly I wanted to choose a school where I did not just feel like a number. My Instructor, Student Success Coordinator, and Program Coordinator all call me on a pretty regular basis to follow up with me on not just my coursework, but also my life in general and always offer a helping hand when needed. I am so thankful I chose PCI as my online school.

From PCI Online to Boot Camp, what a fantastic experience!
November 10th, 2008 by PCI

Well, I’m almost recovered from boot camp. What a fantastic experience! Working with the people at PFI and with their associates was great. Lots of great information and lots of great physical work. I think the boot camp was the perfect end for PCI’s PT course. I also enjoyed meeting my fellow classmates. Once I get my certification in hand, I’ll be sending out resumes and applications. (I have my list ready!) I’m also preparing my promotional information to circulate at the Anytime Fitness where I did part of my externship. The anticipation is killing me!

PCI ONLINE TO THE RESCUE!!!!
November 3rd, 2008 by PCI

I started my online classes with a computer that was fairly old, but I was still able to use it. I was in my third class when my computer crashed and I felt helpless. I got a call from a Student Success Coordinator at PCI ONLINE asking me how my class was going. I let her know that I was without a computer. I talked with the SSC coordinator for a long time on the phone exploring my options. She gave me excellent advise and several resources that I could use. I decided to rent out a computer until I was financial ready to purchase a new one. I didn’t know that I had any options until I was rescued by my Student Success Coordinator. This is yet one of the many reasons why I chose PCI ONLINE.

Online
June 23rd, 2008 by PCI

I have been through a lot of rough patches in my life. When I started classes with Pinnacle Career Institute Online, I was not sure I could do it. I am a single working mother of two children. Each time life threw me a curve, the staff at Pinnacle would help me get through it, so I could finish my courses. Those people are really there to help! They have a person who can help with resources such as babysitting, food banks, transportation, and emergency shelter, and I have had to use a couple of those. I am thankful for caring people!

What Medical Billing and Coding has done for me…….
December 17th, 2007 by PCI

I have struggled with minimum wage jobs trying to provide for my family. I have done almost about anything and everything that one could do. Every day I came home and realized that I was more and more frustrated. I wanted something more with my life and I wanted to provide stability and a good example for my children. I contacted PCI and I was very skeptical, because how could I, a mother, full time worker, find time for school. After talking to the admission reps and realizing that I could do this online and do my school work even with my busy schedule, I was all for it. Medical Billing and Coding seemed interesting and so I gave it a try. I learned not only the principles of coding, but I also learned the administrative end of how a medical office runs as well as how to begin planning and making goals for myself even out in the job market. I have now set a better example for my children by sticking to something and also now being able to provide more for them.

Last but not least the Medical Billing and Coding program has given me the inner happiness and desire to do more than just odd jobs. Thanks PCI!!!

The PCI Online Team!
January 26th, 2009 by PCI

Dear PCI Team,
This is just a courtesy email to you all to let you know that I am so happy that I was accepted into PCI as an online student. Had I not been accepted, I would not have had the opportunity to be further educated by such a wonderful group of AMAZING individuals. The phone calls and emails supporting me and encouraging me and congratulating me on my progress is VERY motivating. I love them. It keeps me working hard because I have a great PCI Team on my side rooting for me. Just knowing that everyone at PCI WANTS to see me succeed and knowing that I have such a strong support group in you all, it leaves me speechless and almost in tears. Why? Because there are people in my everyday life that don’t encourage me and motivate me, yet, my PCI team, which of whom I have never personally met, are there FOR me and By my side every step of the way.
I just wanted to say thank you for everything. And even after graduation, I will never forget any of you. You are MORE than just my PCI Team, you are genuinely my FRIENDS. And to me a friend is just an angel with invisible wings. I hope to one day be able to personally thank each and every one of you for the inspiration that you have given to me and become to me. I love all of you guys like family, and I will never forget what you all mean to me.
Noone has to respond to this email, but just know you are greatly appreciated and loved. You guys have changed my life even BEFORE graduation. I will never forget you. Keep inspiring people the way you have done for me because you are changing lives with every phone call and email.
Graciously Yours,
Online Student

Staying Motivated While Attending PCI Online
October 11th, 2008 by PCI

Staying motivated while enrolled at PCI Online was difficult for me in the beginning of my program. I had to take the initiative to complete everything on my own time. It was definitely discouraging until I realized ways to make myself stay motivated. Connecting with my classmates was a huge help; I actually found someone in my area to study with on a weekly basis. Discussing the material made it more exciting and real and I acutally looked forward to our weekly coffee & conversation. This definitely helped gain a better understanding of the vocabulary used within my classes. Visually charting my progress provided a great sense of satisfaction to me. Crossing off my assignments as I completed them was very rewarding; I would create incentives for me to complete all work in a timely manner. If I ever felt disconnected or alone, I would bring discussion topics to the scheduled chats. Every little step of motivation really helped me reach my goal of graduation.

START ME UP
September 7th, 2007 by PCI

Americans are starting to recognize the health benefits of exercise, because of this fitness is becoming one of the fastest-growing fields in America. Employers nationwide forecast an increase from 177,790 fitness workers in 2003 to 263,947 by 2012, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, an increase of almost 50 percent. The number of personal trainers is expected to grow by 46 percent by 2012, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, which listed personal training as one of its top 15 most desirable fields in which to work. With these statistics it is easy to see that the earning potential for personal fitness trainers is strong. Most trainers can charge about $50 per hour. Working for a fitness club, the trainer generally takes home about $35 an hour after the club takes its share. Opportunities in fitness and health can range from part-time jobs teaching aerobics or weight training to full-time managerial positions in sales and operations at health clubs and other fitness facilities. As more people spend more time and money on fitness and activity, the employment of fitness trainers and aerobics instructors is expected to grow rapidly.
